It is calmer than Mona Vale, and the waves are usually flat - except for a small surf break right on the rocks at Mona Vale rock pool. It's a great spot for smaller children at the south end, and perfect for fishing and scuba diving at the north end.

Those wanting to swim in the north end of Basin Beach should be confident, strong swimmers as there can be rips even when it's flat. If the surf is pumping, there is a reef break right out the back. This should only be attempted by very advanced surfers as its quite dangerous.

If you're up for a nice walk, head up the steps at the north end, and these will take you up to Mona Vale Headland! It's stunning at any time of the day, but sunrises & sunsets are particularly beautiful.

Paid council parking or free street parking along any nearby street.
