About this walk...
The Bondi to Watsons Bay walk is a stunning coastal journey of about 9 kilometres, showcasing some of Sydney’s best ocean and harbour views. Starting from Bondi Beach, you’ll head north along the promenade to North Bondi before weaving through residential streets to Raleigh Reserve, the usual starting point for the Federation Cliff Walk. This section offers well-maintained paths and boardwalks that hug the cliffs, giving you spectacular panoramas of the coastline.
As you continue, you’ll pass through natural bushland and iconic spots like The Gap, where the cliffs plunge dramatically into the sea. The walk finishes at Watsons Bay, a charming harbourside village known for its historic lighthouse and excellent seafood spots. It’s a perfect place to relax after your trek, and you can even catch a ferry back to Circular Quay if you want to skip the return walk.
The trail is mostly easy to moderate, with some steep parts and stairs, especially near The Gap. Facilities like toilets and water stations are limited, so it’s a good idea to come prepared with water and sunscreen. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash. Early mornings or weekdays are the best times to avoid crowds and enjoy a quieter experience.
