About this walk...
The West Head Lookout to Resolute Beach walk is a scenic 2.1km return trail in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, typically taking 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Starting at the West Head Lookout, the path descends through bushland, offering views over Pittwater and the Barrenjoey Peninsula. The trail leads to Resolute Beach, a secluded spot ideal for swimming and picnicking. The return journey follows the same route, ascending back to the lookout. This walk is suitable for most fitness levels, though some sections involve uneven terrain and elevation changes.
For a longer and more challenging experience, consider the Resolute Loop Trail, a 6km circuit that includes the West Head Lookout to Resolute Beach section and extends to Great Mackerel Beach, passing Aboriginal heritage sites and WWII-era structures. This loop offers a more immersive experience of the area's natural and historical features. It's advisable to wear appropriate footwear, carry water, and check trail conditions before embarking on either walk.
